15 March - Requiem to the loss of a great scientist - F. Sherwood Rowland
The death of F. Sherwood Rowland, commonly called Sherry by his friends and colleagues, was a great loss to the international Scientific Community and particularly to the International Ozone Commission, which was proud to have Sherry as one of its Honorary Members. 29 November - 2012 Dobson Award For Young Scientists
The International Ozone Commission is now accepting nominations for the 2012 Dobson Award For Young Scientists which is granted for one or more outstanding research paper(s) in atmospheric sciences published or accepted in a refereed journal since the last Quadrennial Ozone Symposium (July 2008) by a young scientist (within ten years of Ph.D). 1 August 2011 - WMO Professor Mariolopoulos Trust Fund Award 2012/13
Nominations are being solicited for the 2012/13 WMO Professor Mariolopoulos Trust Fund Award. The award is granted for an outstanding research paper in atmospheric sciences, published or accepted during the last two years in a refereed journal by a young scientist (age below 35 years by the date of publication). The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2011. More details are available in the announcement.

ultraviolet rays from the Sun - has reached an unprecedented high level over the Arctic this
spring because of the continuing presence of ozone depleting substances in the atmosphere
